Sean has had 20 years of Local Government experience in economic and economic development work at the local, regional and national levels. Sean has been involved in wide ranging consulting in both the private and public sectors. Clients include some of New Zealand’s principal agencies such as Local Government New Zealand, EDANZ, Opus Consultants, Department of Primary Industries, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Economic Development and Work and Income New Zealand. Economic Solutions Ltd was founded by Sean in November 2002 and Sean is an Accredited Economic Development Professional AEcD [NZ].
Dr Warren Hughes B Com, M Com [University of Auckland], MBA, DBA [Indiana University]
Dr Hughes is a graduate of the University of Auckland and Indiana University where he completed his doctorate in Business Economics and Public Policy. After graduation, he taught in the areas of econometrics, forecasting, financial and managerial economics at The University of New South Wales and The University of Waikato. At various times, he has taught in MBA programmes at the University of Florida in Gainesville and in the Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Irvine. In 2007 Dr Hughes retired from lecturing and in June 2008 was appointed an Honorary Fellow in Economics at The University of Waikato.
Dr. James E. Rowe, Ph. D. (University of Auckland), M.S. (University of Tennessee), M.A. B.S.; AEcD [NZ], ACEcD
James has 30 years Local Government experience in Economic Development and Planning, most recently at Napier City Council, and has previously worked in Australia, Thailand, Kiribati and the USA. Dr. Rowe has driven numerous innovative ED initiatives such as the Manukau Food Hub, the Sutherland small business incubator and the Computer Clubhouse. He has also written very successful economic development and digital strategies. He is a recognised thought leader in local economic development in New Zealand and is the NZ VP of the Australian New Zealand Regional Science Association International. His most recent book, Understanding the Practice of Local Economic Development: An Alternative Theoretical Framework was published in November 2014. He has published three other books, a book chapter and over 40 articles in leading professional journals. James is an Accredited Economic Development Professional AEcD [NZ] and ACEcD in Australia.
